Cowan Cowan is Moreton Island’s quiet beachfront holiday village. It is very popular with families with small children as no vehicles are allowed to drive along the beach front. Take the kids for an early morning walk or set up on the beach for the day. The sunsets from the beach at Cowan are spectacular with views over to the Glass House Mountains and down to the Brisbane city lights. Sit back and watch the ships go by and make sure you keep an eye out for dolphins as they play in the water just off the beach.
Cowan is located about a 10-15 minute drive up the beach from Tangalooma Wrecks where the Micat Barge lands. Remember, all roads on Moreton Island are sand tracks and you do require a 4WD to get around the island. When looking to book your accommodation don’t forget to check the Micat Barge availability and times as they do not run every day. It is important to book your barge ticket early to avoid disappointment. The cost of the barge ticket is not included in your accommodation price and must be purchased separately.
